ORGANIC MARKET: Starbucks Less Organic


A sidenote: organic does not necessarily reflect sustainability but a product can be produced and marketed more sustainable and efficiently than another brand. In addition, there can never be 100% sustainable use of energy because that would defy the law of entropy, or the second law of thermodynamics. From the WSJ.com:

Earlier this month, Starbucks completed the switch to serving milk only from cows that weren’t given the artificial growth hormone, which helps cows produce more milk….

Organic products are grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, as well as without hormones and antibiotics, according to the Agriculture Department.
