The image above shows some Tawny Frogmouths (Podargus strigoides) blending into their arboreal habitat. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species lists this species at a lower risk or of least concern since “there is no evidence of population decline.” Frogmouths are nocturnal birds. Additionally, although frogmouths may look like owls they are actually related to the nightjars according to some folks.  As a result, if they are not placed into their own order they are placed into the order Caprimulgiformes, which includes nightjars.
