ENERGY: Bush on the energy crisis: “It took us a while to get into this energy situation we’re in, it’s gonna take us a while to get out of it”

President Bush begins speaking about energy at 02:19. However, its torture hearing Bush answer the first question, so you might want to start from the beginning. He uses plenty of rhetoric, and he seems tired or distracted.

On energy, he falsely blames the democrats and argues for offshore drilling and the opening up ANWR to bring down fuel prices, but by the time the oil is tapped and flowing into the world market, fuel prices will be higher than today. Furthermore, oil is sold on the international market, so finding “more crude oil here at home” will be meaningless in my opinion.

We can’t drill our way to energy independence. Can’t our leadership be somewhat more cerebral on energy and environmental issues?
