REEL BIG FISH: Commercial fisher lands 663-pound hammerhead off the coast of Volusia County, Florida

The shark’s fins will be sold, and after the fins are sold, it will be sent to a taxidermist. More at WCSH-TV.

  1. Interesting that “The Conservation Report” writes of a 663 lb fish, that could have lived to be 30 years old, killed for a few pounds of fins. Not only is that 600 lbs of meat wasted but that is an adult taken away from the breeding population. And taxidermists no longer need a fish’s body to make a mount. It’s a sad waste of life.

  2. Why shouldn’t I write this post? I did so to bring awareness. It isn’t fair to conclude that I support the finning of sharks and the taking of very large fish. Nowhere in this post do I make such an assertion that I support the finning of sharks.
