You are correct Ollie. Depending on the municipality, tap water can taste bad or differently. Certainly, some of the perception that tap water tastes bad is subjective.
Personally, in most places that I’ve lived, I can drink tap water and not notice any taste—while other folks can. It’s what you’re use to.
Nonetheless, filtering tap water to make it taste better is certainly smarter than buying bottled water or having it delivered for consumption (and it might be healthier to do so in some areas).
Actually, where I live, the tap water does taste gnarly; I tried to fool my wife and she said “ugh, that is unfiltered tap water, right?”
But the Britta filter water does taste as good as the bottled stuff and that is what we switched to.
