EVOLUTION: Is evolution compatible with the Christian faith?

The Vatican believes evolution is compatible with Christianity. According to the Times Online, “The Vatican has admitted that Charles Darwin was on the right track when he claimed that Man descended from apes, [since] a leading official declared yesterday that Darwin’s theory of evolution was compatible with Christian faith, and could even be traced to St Augustine and St Thomas Aquinas,” but the Vatican declared intelligent design merely a “phenomenon of an ideological and cultural nature, thus worthy of a historic examination, but certainly not to be discussed on scientific, philosophical or theological grounds,” because “teaching it alongside evolutionary theory in school classrooms only create[s] confusion.”

  1. As a Jew and a biologist, I have no issues whatsoever synthesizing my religious values and science.

If THIS Pope has no problem with it either… well, I really don’t see how someone can claim to be more Christian than the freakin’ Pope.
