Keith Olbermann sums up a false right-wing smear that went viral on cable news regarding the claim that the “economic recovery act would permit the government to control health care.”  Drug company attack dog and propagandist Betsy McCaughey has before and currently is perpetuating false claims in order to kill health care reform and advance right-wing politics by knowingly and purposely spreading falsities. From Media Matters for America:

During February 10 appearances on CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight and Fox News’ Glenn Beck, hosts Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck allowed former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey to advance the false claim that provisions in the economic recovery act would permit the government to control health care.

As Media Matters for America has noted, talk show host Rush Limbaugh, Internet gossip Matt Drudge, Wall Street Journal senior economic writer Stephen Moore, and Fox News anchors Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly have previously forwarded McCaughey’s falsehoods about the health care provisions in the recovery bill.
