Attorney General Eric Holder recently compared the United States to a “nation of cowards” regarding race relations and race issues. His observations are correct, and his statement comes after outcries over a cartoon by Sean Delonas that was published in the New York Post (you can see more of Sean Delonas’s classy caricatures here).
Growing up in the south, there is no doubt that the impacts of racism and segregation still exist, as there is no doubt that racism still exists, and it isn’t difficult to find. Likewise, the treatment of other minority groups such as gays and lesbians in this country is unconscionable.

Buck,
If you feel this way about race relations, you may be interested in a debate that’s been happening on Southern Fried Science about the genetics of race and intelligence.

Buck, I was born in SW Virginia and I can come to the same conclusion as you. I can positively say, that in the mountainous areas of SWVa, race is still a HUGE issue but in this last election things changed a little. Even some of the old-timers that have lived their whole lives as race separatists came out and vote for President Obama. Even Ralph Stanley (Bluegrass legend) came out with a video praising Obama and calling on all SW Virginians to vote for him. It was in stark contrast to here in upper East Tennessee where I now live and only 30 mile away! Here’s the video of Ralph’s endorsement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUOfaIyv4Bs
Speaking of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder:
Eric Holder is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.
George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).
George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.
And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.
Many people know what Bush did.
And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.
Bush was absolute evil.
Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.
Bush is a psychological prisoner.
Bush has a lot to worry about.
Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.
In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
